How to Easily Make Super Tonic Formula at Home

Many of you use and love our Super Tonic formula, but do you know the story behind it? In this blog, we will dive into what makes this product so special, where it came from, and how you can start making it for your family at home! Super Tonic did not originate with us and we want to acknowledge the incredible formulator and honor him by passing this formula along to you.

Who is Dr. Schulze?

Super Tonic was originally formulated by Dr. Richard Schulze, perhaps one of the most well known modern herbalists. He has lectured at many universities including Cambridge, Oxford, and Trinity Medical College and has been on countless radio and tv programs over the years.

Dr.Schulze fully believes in the power of herbs, plants, and food. His clinic has become famous for working health conditions that western medicine had given up on. Many of his patients are still alive today years after their medical doctors told them they would soon die!

He has made it his life's mission to teach and educate people on how to experience vibrant health and energy no matter what their past.

Why is Super Tonic so special?

One of the things that makes Super Tonic unique is that it is completely made from garden vegetables, most of which are very easy to grow and harvest. It contains all of the ones you have heard of being great for your immune and respiratory system like garlic, onion, ginger, habanero, and horseradish.* The horseradish and onion in particular help to open up the respiratory system and support blood circulation to increase the absorption of the immune-boosting ingredients.*

Each of these foods is incredible for supporting the respiratory system and the immune system on their own but combined it becomes what Dr. Schults refers to as “AN ALL-PURPOSE TONIC” perfect for the immune system.*

How to Make Super Tonic at Home

A Closer Look at Each Ingredient in Super Tonic and Its Health Benefits

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has become extremely popular in the last few years showing up in all kinds of health drink supplements and diets. Some of the most popular uses are supporting healthy detox, increasing energy, and much more.*

Apple cider vinegar is made from the juice of apples. The juice is combined with yeast and bacteria to start the alcoholic fermentation process which converts sugars to alcohol. The liquid then goes through a second fermentation process where the alcohol is converted into vinegar.

Since apple cider vinegar is made from apples, it contains an important carbohydrate called pectin. Pectin is a natural prebiotic and helps to build a healthy gut. Prebiotics, such as pectin, work by slowing down the absorption of nutrients and by binding to products in the digestive tract that you can't use. After the pectin binds to these substances, it carries them through the body to elimination. With all the emerging research on the importance of gut health, we can conclude that the state of our gut is directly related to the state of our immune system and overall health.

To experience the digestive benefits of apple cider vinegar, make sure the bottle you get says “with the ‘Mother’”. The ‘Mother’ looks like a cloud of sediment floating in the liquid and contains all of the important enzymes and bacteria.

Ginger Root

Asian cultures have studied ginger for many years and one of its main health benefits is boosting the immune system.* It has recently become extremely popular in westering wellness as well. It is typically used to aid with detoxification, boost the immune system, and much more.* Ginger powerfully supports wellness.

Ginger is a flowering plant; its scientific name is Zingiber Officinale. The actual root of the plant is well- known for its medicinal properties and has been used across the globe. Documentation of its supporting properties have been recorded in ancient Roman, Greek, Arabic, and Chinese texts. Ginger has a zesty, peppery flavor and contains a high amount of antioxidants and therapeutic compounds such as shogaol, gingerol, paradol and zingerone.

When using ginger it's important to make sure you properly store it. Store it unpeeled in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 weeks. You can also freeze it to extend its shelf life.

Horseradish

Horseradish is emerging as a very powerful ingredient in health. If you have ever tasted a little bit of raw ginger root you know how quickly it opens up your entire sinuses. Horseradish has a similar effect on your entire immune system and respiratory system.* It helps to increase blood flow and circulation and helps your body metabolize food.*

Belonging to the mustard family, horseradish is a perennial plant that is packed full of immune-supporting compounds. Its scientific name is Armoracia rusticana. It is a cruciferous root vegetable and is commonly used as a condiment or spice, particularly for meat.

Horseradish has a longstanding history as a dietary supplement due to its antioxidant content and beneficial enzymes. When horseradish is cut, it produces allyl isothiocyanate which is known to irritate mucous membranes in the sinuses and eyes supporting healthy respiration.* It is a great source of vitamin C and folate.

Fresh Onion

From Ayurveda to European folk medicine, onion has a history of use for supporting immune health.* The scientific name for the onion plant is Allium Cepa

Onions are considered a superfood today and contain numerous phytonutrients and sulfur compounds. Onions are known for their ability to draw toxins out of the air. They provide a great source of antioxidants, flavonoids, and vitamin C.

This vegetable is extremely versatile in cooking and adds a distinct flavor to meals. We all know the tears that are shed from the potent chemicals released after slicing an onion. To avoid crying, try the following:

  1. Chop it under water, so the water absorbs the gas.

  2. Cut the onion after it has been refrigerated.

  3. Put lime juice on the knife before chopping.

  4. Breath through your mouth instead of your nose!

Garlic

Garlic is one of the most popular herbs in the world and has a rich history dating back thousands of years.  It is a perennial plant of the amaryllis family and its scientific name is Allium sativum. With an intense aromatic flavor, garlic has enormous health benefits especially when eaten raw.

Did you know that Garlic has more than 200 chemical substances? Allici, flavonoids, amino acids and bioflavonoids are some of the highlighted compounds that keep you feeling healthy.

One main component present in garlic is sulfur. Sulfur is known to help your body absorb the trace element zinc, which is an immunity booster.* Luckily, this vegetable is easy to incorporate into daily cooking and you can add it to almost any dish.

Habanero Pepper

The habanero pepper comes from a perennial flowering plant and is a hot variety of the chili pepper. These peppers are most commonly orange or red, but may also be white, brown, yellow, green, or purple. In 1999, the habanero pepper was listed as the world’s hottest pepper, but is now replaced by the ghost pepper.

What makes this ingredient beneficial to your health? We’ve all experienced the strong effects of consuming spicy food. Cue watery eyes and a runny nose! This is due to a compound called capsaicin. Habanero peppers are a rich source of this natural chemical that gives peppers their fiery heat.

Habanero peppers contain great amounts of antioxidants, one being lycopene which helps support a healthy body.* They’re also a good source of vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, iron. Habanero increases blood circulation and helps the body detox, and support the immune system.* It has a synergistic effect when combined with other herbs as the increase in circulation helps get the nutrition to other parts of the body.*
